What should I work out before buying an EV without a driveway?

Use weekly distance and realistic consumption to estimate how much energy must be replaced. Keep a busier or colder week as a separate scenario. This turns a vague need to charge sometimes into a quantity that can be compared with available sessions.

Identify when the car can remain connected long enough at work, while shopping or at another regular destination. Check opening hours, parking rules and access permissions. A charger nearby is less useful if it is unavailable during the hours you can use it.

Include the expected mix of energy prices, connection fees, subscriptions and parking. Compare the total with the ownership budget. Do not use a cheap home electricity rate for a car that will rarely have access to home charging.

Consider what happens if workplace charging is occupied or a usual public site is unavailable. Identify a fallback and the time and cost it adds. A routine that works only while one particular connector is free needs more resilience.

Where practical, visit the proposed charging locations at the times you would use them and check their official access conditions. A rental or another legitimate trial can answer practical questions, but one successful visit is still not a long-term availability guarantee.
